The V12 engine has played an immensely important role for Rolls-Royce. However, in the age of electrification, the famous powerhouse is being phased out in favor of electric motors. Next up is the Rolls-Royce Wraith.

Rolls-Royce Wraith

To bid farewell to the very important model for the British brand, Rolls-Royce will produce the farewell model Wraith Black Arrow, which will be manufactured in a limited edition of only 12 units.

The most powerful Rolls

The Wraith was launched in 2013 and was a first attempt for the brand to attract a younger audience, which they undoubtedly succeeded in doing.

The model is more performance-oriented than its stablemates and appealed to a new audience, which was taken advantage of with the launch of the brand’s Black Badge models.

Under the hood of the Wraith Black Arrow lies a 6.6-liter V12 with 630 horsepower, making the coupe the most powerful Rolls ever, at least for now.

Inspiration drawn from a real speed machine

Design-wise, in terms of color and such, the Wraith Black Arrow has been inspired by Thunderbolt, an eight-wheeled monster that set a new world speed record for cars in 1938, reaching 575.3 kilometers per hour.

Thunderbolt is technically a car and was powered by two Rolls-Royce V12 engines. The records were set at Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah, USA.

To make the car visible when it passed the measuring equipment, which had a body made of polished aluminum, a black arrow with a yellow circle was painted on the side.

It is precisely this color combination that has been used for the Rolls-Royce Wraith Black Arrow.

There are also a number of other details that distinguish the Black Arrow version of the Wraith. These include the roof, which consists of 2,117 LED lights that together emulate the Utah night sky on September 16, 1938, the day the speed record was set.

The clock in the car is also unique and draws inspiration from 1930s instrumentation. If, despite all this, one were to forget which model it is, each Wraith Black Arrow is delivered with an emblem on the engine that reads “Final Coupé Collection.”

All 12 cars have already been sold to customers around the world.
