During last week’s Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2023, Epic showed off some pretty cool stuff that can be created with the game engine Unreal Engine 5.2. Here’s another example of such a thing.

In the clip below, you can see how Epic uses Unreal to demonstrate how a Rivian R1T navigates through jungle-like environments. Unreal Engine is typically associated with game development, but as seen here, the game engine can also be used to create footage for advertisements or other film productions.

Take an R1T jungle ride powered by Unreal Engine | Rivian

Epic and Rivian have previously collaborated, with Rivian using Unreal Engine to display 3D animations of their cars in the car’s infotainment system.

Unreal Engine 5.2 can render in real-time rocks that tumble as the car drives over them, leaves that bend out of the way, and flowing water, but it can also be set up to realistically show how the Rivian’s air suspension flexes, how each electric motor drives the wheels, and even how the tires flex when going over rough terrain.
