It has been a year since Microsoft began implementing AI technology from OpenAI into its products, something Microsoft has marked by presenting some news about what is today called Microsoft Copilot.

In a blog post, Microsoft writes that Copilot will soon be supported by OpenAI’s language model GPT-4 Turbo. This means that users can ask longer and more complex questions to the AI-driven assistant. They have also implemented an upgraded version of the text-to-image AI Dall-e 3, which should enable the creation of higher quality images. This upgraded version of Dall-e 3 is also said to be better at understanding what the user inputs into the AI function.

Microsoft is also adding a new feature called “Inline Composer” to Copilot. It can rewrite texts that the user finds on the web via the company’s Edge browser. In addition, a new code assistant called “Code Interpreter” will be introduced. The exact capabilities of this feature are unclear as Microsoft only writes:

We are developing a new capability that will enable you to perform complex tasks such as more accurate calculations, coding, data analysis, visualization, math and more. We are gathering feedback on these capabilities from a select set of users and plan to make it widely available soon.

In a separate blog post, Microsoft also writes that GPT-4 will start being used on their search engine Bing. The function to create images on Bing will also start using the upgraded version of Dall-e 3.
