Ford CEO Jim Farley confirms in an interview with the Wall Street Journal that the automaker will not follow in the footsteps of Tesla, Rivian, or GM. Instead of dumping CarPlay for its own solution, Ford will keep Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in its vehicles.

About a month ago, GM announced that it would discontinue Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in its future electric vehicles and instead only offer its own solution based on Android Automotive. This was not well received by many, and may have contributed to Ford now coming out and announcing that they will continue to invest in these solutions. Farley says that they lost the battle for in-car content ten years ago and that he doesn’t think they would have gained much from trying to develop their own solution.
