Next year, Alpine will launch its first electric car “for the people” and it will be the production version of the concept we see here.

The car is called A290 and it is a compact vehicle with Renault 5 vibes. Apparently, 85 percent of the concept’s exterior design will be retained for production. However, the interior will change a lot because there is currently only room for three people and the driver’s seat is in the center.

The finished car will be based on the CMF-B EV platform, and the technology under the hood will be shared with the upcoming electric Renault 5 and Zoe. The Renault 5 will be offered with either 79 kW/107 hp or 96 kW/131 hp, but the Alpine is expected to have significantly more power.

Rumors suggest 215 horsepower, and an even more powerful version with 268 horsepower will be released in 2027. Whether the drive will be rear-wheel or all-wheel remains to be seen. The concept car has two electric motors at the front.
