According to the Washington Post, Google will become more secretive about its breakthroughs in AI.
Google and DeepMind, which it acquired more than nine years ago, have so far published advancements such as Transformer (the “T” in GPT), but instead of showcasing breakthroughs before creating a product with the technology, the company now wants to reverse that model. We should therefore first see a product from Google with new AI technology before the company publishes scientific papers on the subjects. According to the Washington Post, it is Google Research leader Jeff Dean who introduced the new policy.
