It’s no longer a secret that Meta has been working on a Twitter competitor, and now it’s official. The app, called Thread, has been uploaded to the Google Play Store, although it is currently unavailable for download.
Thread bears a striking resemblance to Twitter, with text-based conversations where users post threads instead of individual tweets, allowing others to join and continue the conversation.
Opinions may vary regarding Meta’s involvement in this venture, but one significant advantage is that Meta already has a foundation with Instagram and doesn’t have to start from scratch in terms of followers. Whether Thread will be a success remains to be seen, but with Twitter facing criticism and making more controversial decisions each week, there is a chance for Meta to succeed in this endeavor.
