Last night, Elon Musk announced that Twitter will begin limiting the number of tweets one can read per day. The numbers he mentioned were 600 tweets for unverified accounts, while verified accounts will be able to read up to 6,000 tweets per day.

For newly created and still unverified accounts, the limit will be 300 tweets per day. Another thing that emerged, or rather disappeared from Twitter yesterday, was the ability to view tweets via the web even without having an account.

Musk stated that these new rules are temporary to put a stop to extreme levels of data collection and system manipulation by various AI tools that scrape content from all tweets without permission or compensation.

He also mentioned that they will gather evidence from such tools in order to sue them at a later time. However, these temporary measures caused some issues for regular Twitter users yesterday, as several reported difficulties accessing the site.
