This article will work as a sort of guide for those who are looking to upgrade and enchant your endgame gear.

In this guide you’ll find all you’ll need to know about how to upgrade your gear to level 4 and 5, where you’ll need to go to get the materials needed to do this, what kind of benefits these upgrades will even give and finally how to enchant this gear as well to ensure that your character is as strong as they can be.

Upgrading your Endgame Gear

Most Diablo IV players wouldn’t have hit level 100 with their characters after they’ve completed Act VI and the Epilogue, however it is at this point where you’ll be ready to gear up and get there. A really important thing when it comes to getting more powerful in Diablo IV will be Sacred Gear, and in order for you to even start getting this type of gear you’ll need to be at least at level 45 and have completed the Capstone Dungeon that unlocks World Tier 3: Nightmare. This Sacred Gear is essential as it is more powerful gear that has a higher time level, item power and stats. This Sacred Gear is also not only limited to Legendary pieces, you could also come across Rare Sacred pieces, which you will also be able to use and Imprint to make your gear even more powerful.

Then there is also one more tier above this Sacred Gear, which you unlock once you’ve reached World Tier 4: Torment, and that is Ancestral Gear, which is a lot more powerful than Sacred Gear. compared to your normal gear though, this Sacred and Ancestral gear cannot be fully upgraded, it instead requires a new item called Forgotten Souls.

How do You Get Forgotten Souls

You’ll be able to accumulate these Forgotten Souls from a new Endgame Feature called Helltides. Then within the Helltide, you’ll be able to obtain them in multiple various ways, but these are the most common ones:

  • Finishing Events inside of the Helltide.
  • Slaying Elites inside of the Helltide.
  • Opening Tortured Chests inside of the Helltide.
  • Interacting with the Screaming Hell Vein inside of the Helltide.

Then after you’ve managed to obtain a few Forgotten Souls, you’ll then be able to upgrade your gear to level 5. Upgrading your Sacred and Ancestral Gear is similar to how you’d upgrade your usual Rare or Legendary Gear except when it comes to the last level.

When it comes to the cost difference between base Legendaries, Sacred and Ancestral gear, it is actually all the same, except for the gold which is slightly higher. However, the cost that comes with upgrading will also cost other materials as well, like Iron, Leather and Veiled Crystals and with the most noteworthy ones being Baleful Fragments, Abstruse Sigils and Coiling Wards.

You’ll be able to obtain these noteworthy materials by salvaging your Legendary gear or by simply visiting the Blacksmith. Baleful Fragments come from weapons, Abstruse Sigils come from Accessories and Jewelry and finally Coiling Wards come from Armor. You will also have a chance to find these items in Chests or receive them from World Events, so be sure to play as much content as the game has to offer as well.

Then when it comes to the Veiled Crystals, Iron and Leather, you’ll be able to find these in abundance by salvaging Rare Gear, so definitely keep this in mind when you’re contemplating on whether you should sell or salvage your gear as these materials will be key in your Endgame upgrading.

Enchanting your Endgame Gear

Enchanting your gear could already be quite a familiar thing for a lot of players already since you may have noticed from the Occultist that you’ve had the options to enchant your gear quite early on in your Diablo IV adventure. Although it was available to you, you probably haven’t been making much use of it as you upgrade and replace your gear so often when you are at the lower levels. Once you reach the World Tier 3 or World Tier 4, your level growth becomes significantly slower and it is at this point where you may be looking to make your pieces feel a little more consistent.

You are allowed to enchant your gear as often as you want to, however it is important to note that you are only able to replace one of the stats on it and the choices that you get to replace the stat with is random. The first upgrade that you make to it is relatively cheap when it comes to gold cost, but you need to watch out because if you keep repeatedly upgrading it it may break your bank. For enchanting your gear you’ll also need Forgotten Souls as well as another new material called Fiend Roses.

How to Acquire Fiend Roses

Then just like the Forgotten Souls, you’ll be able to obtain Fiend Roses through the Helltide feature. You’ll be able to find these Fiend Roses multiple various ways, just like the Forgotten Souls again, but these are the most common ways you can:

  • Finish Events inside of the Helltide.
  • Slaying Elites inside of the Helltide.
  • Opening Tortured Chests inside of the Helltide.
  • Picking the rare Fiend Rose plant inside of the Helltide.

As of this moment, the Fiend Roses are only used for enchanting your gear, so definitely use these to enchant your gear to make sure that you are as strong as possible when continuing through your Diablo IV adventure.

Final Words

So, there you have a guide and advice on not only upgrading your gear in the endgame of Diablo IV but also enchanting it to ensure that you are as strong as you can be to give you the best chance to slay even the most powerful enemies.
