Blizzard is keeping its promise to release the first season of Diablo IV at the end of July. Yesterday, it was clarified that the name will be Diablo IV: Season of the Malignant, and it will launch on July 20th.
The season will be a side story to the events in the game. New beasts will make your life difficult, and the solution, unsurprisingly, is to kill them.
Sometimes you will encounter Malignant monsters, extra tough enemies that drop special hearts when they die. Upon picking up the heart, they will respawn, but if you manage to kill them again, they will drop a Caged Heart that boosts your abilities and strengths.
To participate in the first season, you must have completed the Diablo IV campaign (in Eternal or Seasonal Realm). You also need to start a new character. Your mounts, Altars of Lilith discoveries, and visited locations in the world will carry over into the season, and once you complete it, the character will be transferred to the Eternal Realm. A detailed description of everything about the season is available on Blizzard’s website.
There is also a changelog for the latest patch, version 1.0.4.
Lastly, Diablo Immortal will receive a new class – Blood Knight – on July 13th. It is described as a mid-range class that excels in both melee and ranged combat. Even if you’re not into Immortal, it may be interesting to keep an eye on it for future expansions in Diablo IV. Here’s a trailer:
The Blood Knight is a mid-range Class with hybrid attack options that are either melee or ranged depending on your proximity to the target. This vanquisher of vampires feeds on enemies’ life, entraps them in deadly shadows summoned with cursed strength, and relies on their trusty polearm to maintain distance from danger. And if all else fails, they may just succumb to the unholy abomination within themselves that’s vying for control of their humanity. Watch the below video on the Blood Knight to get a taste of who they are.
