The filming for “Mortal Kombat 2” has now started in Australia, as reported by CBR. The website has caught a post from horror film master James Wan, who is producing “Mortal Kombat 2”.

James Wan on Instagram – “Fiiiight!”

In the first film, based on the 1992 fighting video game, we saw favorites like Sub-Zero and Scorpion battling each other, and the sequel will introduce additional fighters.

The biggest addition to “Mortal Kombat 2” is Karl Urban in the role of Johnny Cage. Interestingly, Cage himself is an actor turned fighter, and he joins the film alongside Tati Gabrielle as Jade and Adeline Rudolph as Kitana.

Since the 90s, there have been eleven mainline “Mortal Kombat” games, and a new game is set to be released in September. The first “Mortal Kombat” film was released in 1995, followed by “Mortal Kombat 2: Annihilation” in 1997.

The films were not particularly successful, but the latest “Mortal Kombat” from 2021 fared better than its predecessors.
