The wait is over, and Mercedes now presents the new E-Class. Although it’s about new design and lots of advanced features that make the ride comfortable and safe, that’s not exactly what they’re showcasing when the car is unveiled.
Instead, it’s the ability to play Angry Birds on one of the screens, the car having a built-in TikTok function, and the presence of a selfie camera that take center stage. That’s right – the grille is also illuminated.
The wheelbase has increased by 22 centimeters and now measures a total of 2.96 meters. From nose to rear, the car now measures 4.94 meters. Thanks to this, the rear seat space should have improved a bit, and there should be a little more room to spread out than before. The dashboard, instrument panel, and screens resemble those found in the electric siblings EQE and EQS, and a screen can also be added for the passenger.
All engine options coming to Europe are electrified, and half are plug-in hybrids. The entry-level model is the E200, which has a gasoline-powered four-cylinder engine with 204 horsepower driving the rear wheels. If you prefer diesel, you can choose the E200d with 197 horsepower, which is also available with all-wheel drive. The plug-in hybrids all have a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine connected to a 129-horsepower electric motor. You should be able to drive on electricity for up to 100 km. The E400e is currently the sharpest in the group, achieving 0-100 km/h in 5.3 seconds. AMG versions will be released later.
Unfortunately, we have not yet received the price and launch date.
