Stellantis has now presented the Ram 1500 REV, which is a completely electric pickup. With this, they promise that they have not just followed the trend, but have learned from others’ mistakes and created something that should be really good and well thought-out. Whether this is true remains to be seen, of course.
To beat its competitors, the top version also features a battery pack of a whopping 229 kWh, which should provide a range of up to 800 km. The standard pack is no slouch either, with its size of 168 kWh, which should provide up to 563 km. With this “small” battery pack, it goes further than both the Ford F-150 Lightning and the Rivian R1T, but shorter than the Chevrolet Silverado EV and GMC Sierra EV. In the future, the Ram 1500 REV XR will also be launched, which should have “class-shattering range,” likely with the help of a range extender of some kind.
There are electric motors on both the front and rear axles, each with 340 horsepower, and the combined output is stated to be 448 kW/663 horsepower and 840 newton-meters of torque. It can go from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds. The car has an 800-volt architecture and can fast charge up to 350 kW. By doing so, you should get 177 km in ten minutes. There are outlets on the bed to power machinery, and these can produce up to 7.2 kW.
On the options list, you can also get outlets in the front trunk for up to 3.6 kW. Underneath, the car has the new STLA Frame frame, which is specially developed for large electric vehicles. On the tow hitch, you can tow up to 6.35 tons, and on the bed, you can load up to 1.2 tons.
The car will reach the first dealers in the fourth quarter of next year. Unfortunately, we have not yet received any indication of the price.
