Rumors are now circulating that the 911 GT2 RS will make a comeback, and that it will be more powerful than ever before. The car will be equipped with a hybrid system, and in addition to turbocharging, it will also have an electric motor.

The combined power output is expected to exceed 700 horsepower. The electric motor will be mounted on the gearbox, and the battery will be charged through regenerative braking. The system is a mild hybrid technology that has been borrowed from the racing car 919. The new technology adds weight, but Porsche is said to be working to ensure that the car’s weight does not increase by more than 100 kilograms.

A Porsche “insider” told Autocar the newly developed hybrid drivetrain is expected to put out more than 700 ponies. That shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise, as the most recent 911 GT2 RS pumped out 690 horsepower. Ten more ponies shouldn’t be too much of a jump for Porsche’s flagship.

The new GT2 RS may be launched sometime in 2026.
