Porsche Classic is now presenting a real treat for those who have an early version of the Porsche 911. These have a magnesium crankcase, and from now on, Porsche Classic will offer this as a new spare part.

Finding a used one in good condition is becoming really difficult, and not everyone can repair magnesium. The crankcases are available for engines with a volume of 2.0, 2.2, 2.4, and 2.7 liters, and these were used in F and G-series 911 and 912. Porsche will also develop crankcases for other generations of 911, but exactly which ones are unclear at the moment.

We do not have a price tag for the magnesium case, but it probably does not matter much for those who want a new one.

“This reissue closes another gap in our range of spare parts, making it possible to build completely new engines for most classic 911 models,” says Ulrike Lutz, Director of Porsche Classic. “There’s a lot of demand from our customers for true-to-original engine components like this.” Porsche Classic is already working on replicas of crankcases for other generations of the 911.
