Kia has released information about the new Kia EV9 in several stages, and now we are getting some more details. Some details are still missing, and the most important one, the price, is still pending.
During the first half of the year, a launch edition will be sold, which is more or less a GT-line with some extra features. Then, other versions will be available to order. A GT version will be available, but it is unclear when.
When the production-ready car was revealed two weeks ago, they showed the base version for some reason and not the GT-line version. The cool lighting details in the front from the concept were not present on the regular version, only on the GT-line version as seen above.
The car comes with six or seven seats, with five not being an option. If you choose six seats, you will be able to rotate the seats in the middle row, but this will only be possible when the car is stationary. To continue driving, you will need to rotate them back into place.
As mentioned, we will get the GT-line version here at first. The battery is 99.8 kWh, and at most, you will be able to travel 541 kilometers (preliminarily), but that is with the base version with 19-inch wheels. With the GT-line, that number will be lower, and the exact number is not yet available, but they hope for more than 500 kilometers. With 20-inch wheels, which are standard, it might be a little lower. Thanks to the E-GMP platform, it inherits the charging capability from the EV6, meaning it has 800V and 240 kW charging. The car will also have Vehicle-to-Load capability, meaning it can deliver not only 230 volts but also 3.6 kW.
There are two motors, and therefore, all-wheel drive is available. There is also a rear-wheel-drive option. It delivers 283 kW and 700 Nm, which should take the car to 100 km/h in 5.3 seconds. Not bad for such a large car. The car measures 5010 x 1980 x 1755 mm. It is not currently known how much the car weighs, but it will be able to tow 2500 kg.
It is also unclear how many liters of cargo space there is, but the trunk is 50 liters and can be opened with the key, the app, and from inside the car.
The interior feels pretty good spontaneously, they have ditched the silly row that was both media control and AC control but not good at either. Now, the AC functions are real buttons instead.
