Jeep is now rolling out an update to the Wrangler model. Among other things, a new grille is on the agenda, but there have also been improvements inside in terms of more and better technology, and more gear for off-road driving.
Safety is also said to have improved slightly. To round it all off, the Sport S 4xe is also introduced as the new entry point if you want the Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid. If you choose a Rubicon, you now get a Dana 44 HD full-float rear axle and a Warn winch mounted in the front bumper. You also get a Rock-Trac transfer case with low range, 33-inch tires and lockable wheel axles.
For those who want the most power, the Rubicon 392 with a 6.4-liter V8 engine producing 470 horsepower is the top choice. The Wrangler Willys also returns, which gets even more off-road bits, wider fenders, and better ground clearance.
The interior gets a new infotainment system with a 12.3-inch touchscreen that replaces the old puny 7-inch screen. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are offered, and there are USB-C ports for charging your devices.
“The Jeep Wrangler is the archetypal adventure hero, embodying the spirit and the soul of the Jeep brand,” said Christian Meunier, Jeep brand CEO. “Since its introduction, we have sold almost 5 million Wranglers around the world, setting new levels of 4×4 capability with each new generation. Today, we are raising the bar once again by combining the most capable Wrangler to date, with more technology, comfort and safety features. This is a no-compromise combination enhanced by the freedom to choose from four different powertrains, including our electrified 4xe, which is the best-selling PHEV in America.”
