With the introduction of the ID.7, Volkswagen presented the new and more efficient powertrain called APP550. It will be featured in several vehicles, and earlier this year, the Enyaq benefited from it. Now, it’s the turn of the ID.4 and ID.5.

The advantage of this powertrain is its increased efficiency, resulting in lower fuel consumption while improving both acceleration and charging speed. Fast charging is increased to a maximum of 135 kW for the two-wheel-drive versions and up to 175 kW for the all-wheel-drive models.

With the new powertrain, Skoda will achieve a range extension of 31 and 36 km, respectively, on a single charge. The power output is rated at 286 horsepower and 545 Newton-meters of torque. ID.4 and ID.5 with the APP550 powertrain are set to be delivered by the end of the year, and they will also receive the new generation of infotainment systems – MIB4.

Pricing details have not been disclosed yet.
