In May, Aston Martin introduced the DB12 model. Now it’s being presented in its convertible form, and as usual, it carries the additional name Volante.

The fabric roof can be opened in 14 seconds and closed in 16 seconds, at speeds of up to 50 km/h. It boasts eight layers of insulation, ensuring the cabin remains as quiet as its sibling when the top is up. The standard roof color is black, but it can also be chosen in red, blue, or black/silver.

Inside, we find the next generation of the in-house developed infotainment system by Aston Martin. This includes a 10.25-inch touchscreen connected to an 11-speaker Bowers & Wilkins audio system. An optional upgrade offers up to 15 speakers and a 1170-watt system.

Under the hood resides the same engine as in the coupe version, featuring a 4.0-liter AMG V8 with twin-turbochargers. It produces 680 horsepower and 800 Newton-meters of torque. Power is sent to the rear axle through an eight-speed ZF transmission, with an electronic limited-slip differential. The 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) acceleration is achieved in 3.7 seconds, just 0.1 seconds slower than the coupe.

The top speed remains the same at 325 km/h (202 mph). The vehicle is equipped with 21-inch wheels, housing 400mm front and 360mm rear brake discs. Ceramic brakes that save 27 kilograms are available as an option.

Production is set to begin in the third quarter of this year, with the first deliveries expected in the fourth quarter. The pricing details have not been disclosed yet.
