The small Ruark radios usually perform well in tests, particularly with their sound quality being a notch better than the competitors’. Ruark claims that this also applies to the new R1S, which is a slightly unusual radio receiver with DAB+.
It features both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, allowing you to stream music over the network and access internet radio via Wi-Fi. This means you have the whole world in a small radio, and you can find a remote radio station by using the dial on top to navigate through stations on the front color screen.
The grille of the compact radio is made of durable hardwood with slow-growing deciduous wood, and the radio supports Spotify Connect, Amazon Music, and Deezer (no mention of Tidal).
The Ruark radio also has an input for an external audio source, a headphone jack, and a USB-C port for mobile charging. It remembers the six most recently connected Bluetooth devices, making it easy for the whole family to connect whenever they want.
Additionally, there is an optional battery pack for the radio called BackPack 3, which makes it portable.
