Apple is preparing to launch several new models of its popular AirPods later this year, according to Mark Gurman from Bloomberg. This includes two new versions of the fourth-generation AirPods as well as an update to the AirPods Max.

The new AirPods models are expected to feature improvements such as a new design, better fit, enhanced sound quality, and an updated charging case with a USB-C port. One of the two versions of AirPods 4, according to Gurman, will have features like active noise cancellation and a case with a built-in speaker for Find My functionality, while the cheaper model will lack these features. The AirPods Max are also expected to receive a USB-C port and possibly new color options.

Apple also plans to discontinue selling the current second and third-generation AirPods when the new models are launched. An update to the AirPods Pro with a new design and improved chip is expected to be released in 2025.
