Creative Aurvana Ace and Ace 2 are true wireless earbuds with an entirely new driver technology. They feature special solid-state MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems) elements made of silicon. These are tiny, very thin – and super lightweight – speaker elements that require much higher voltage (but almost no current) than traditional dynamic elements. Therefore, a very special amplifier is needed to drive them. The advantage is said to be a more detailed and distortion-free music reproduction.

Today, MEMS technology has advanced to the point where it can be used in the high-frequency range. For bass reproduction, Creative uses a more conventional dynamic 10mm element in each ear. The total frequency range is thus 5 to 40,000 Hz.

Features

Aurvana Ace 2

Creative Aurvana Ace and Ace 2 both support LE Audio and LC3 Bluetooth codecs, which should provide better sound than the older SBC codec. They also include the aptX codec, and Ace 2 also features aptX Lossless, delivering true lossless CD quality. iPhone users will have to settle for AAC, but that’s Apple’s fault.

Active noise cancellation is also present, as well as ambient sound mode. A total of six built-in microphones with Qualcomm’s cVc noise reduction technology also ensure clear voice reproduction during calls, even in noisy environments. IPX5 certification also makes them weather- and sweat-proof for active users.

Battery Life

Aurvana Ace

The total battery life including the charging case is 24 hours, while the earbuds alone have 6 hours of playtime before needing a recharge.
