Sometimes you wonder if companies are really a bit slow. Meta, for example, has spent billions and billions on the Metaverse, but I still get spam messages on Instagram. However, soon there might be fewer of these because Meta is implementing two new procedures. The first one is that you have to request permission to send messages to people you’re not already friends with, and you do this by sending an invitation to chat. In the invitation, you can include text, but until the invitation is accepted, you can’t send text, links, or images to the person.
They have also limited the number of invitations you can send per day. Another feature they announced in January is the silent mode on Instagram.
When you turn it on, you won’t receive notifications when messages come in, and the person sending the messages will be notified that you have enabled silent mode, so they don’t think you’re ignoring them.
