It’s become evident recently that Ubisoft is going all-in on Assassin’s Creed, with announcements such as the mobile game Assassin’s Creed Jade, the VR game Assassin’s Creed Nexus, and Assassin’s Creed Mirage, which aims to return to the series’ roots in a smaller adventure.
The company has also stated that the number of AC developers will be increased by 40% in the coming years, and it will be necessary if what game journalist Tom Henderson writes is true. According to him, Ubisoft now has a total of eleven different Assassin’s Creed games in development, including the rumored remake of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag.
Some are in active development, while others are still in the discussion or concept stage. According to Henderson, the projects are as follows:
- Assassin’s Creed Mirage [single-player] (in production) – October 12, 2023
- Assassin’s Creed Nexus [VR] (in production) – 2023
- Assassin’s Creed Codename Jade [mobile] (in production) – Expected in 2023
- Assassin’s Creed Codename Red [single-player] (in production) – 2024, according to sources
- Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe [single-player] (pre-production) – Expected in 2025/2026
- Assassin’s Creed Codename Invictus [multiplayer] (pre-production) – Expected in 2025/2026
- Assassin’s Creed Codename Nebula [single-player] (concept/prototype) – Unknown
- Assassin’s Creed Codename Raid [multiplayer] (concept/prototype) – Unknown
- Assassin’s Creed Codename Echoes [multiplayer] (concept/prototype) – Unknown
- Assassin’s Creed Nexus 2 [VR] (under discussion on the internet) – Unknown
- Assassin’s Creed Black Flag remake [single-player] (just been greenlit) – Unknown
So, there is a lot of assassinating going on, although it’s not guaranteed that all projects will actually see the light of day.
