Today, Sony isn’t just releasing Portal; we’re also getting two pairs of headphones designed to work seamlessly with the new device as well as the PS5.
The Pulse Elite is a wireless headset with a foldable microphone, and the Pulse Explore is Sony’s first set of wireless earbuds with dual microphones and noise cancellation. Both products utilize the relatively uncommon technology of planar magnetic drivers, which is meant to provide improved sound quality.
The headphones employ a new protocol that Sony calls PlayStation Link to deliver low-latency, lossless audio quality and easy switching between multiple PlayStation Link devices. A USB adapter is required for PS5 compatibility, which comes included. This adapter can also be used with PC or Mac.
Additionally, the headphones feature Bluetooth connectivity for pairing with other devices, such as iOS and Android. For instance, the Pulse Explore can be connected to a PS5 through PlayStation Link while simultaneously being paired with a mobile phone via Bluetooth. This means that while playing on the PS5, you can immediately answer a call and hear it through the same headphones.
The Pulse Elite is the headset, priced at 150 euros upon launch. The in-ear Pulse Explore headphones come at a cost of 220 euros.
