Team Ninja knows a thing or two about Asian melee combat games, and after taking us to an alternate version of China in Wu Long: Fallen Dynasty, they are once again heading to Japan in the upcoming Rise of the Ronin. It was announced last year as an action role-playing game with an open world and battles involving both swords and firearms.
Now, leaker The Snitch has released additional alleged details about the game, suggesting that it’s a mix of Assassin’s Creed, Ghost of Tsushima, and Dark Souls. One aspect borrowed from the latter is that Rise of the Ronin uses item descriptions to expand on the world and its inhabitants. The influence from Assassin’s Creed can be seen in an alleged image of the game’s map, covered in various icons, and the game is said to feature side quests in a similar style to AC.
The Snitch also claims that the game is intended to be released in the first quarter of 2024. The leaked information has been compiled in a Reddit post, but it’s worth mentioning that the first image link appears to contain a minor spoiler about the game’s story. The game is “console-exclusive to PlayStation 5,” which means a PC version is not out of the question.
