Charles Martinet, who has been the voice of Mario for 27 years, will stop lending his voice to the iconic character, according to a tweet from Nintendo.

Instead, Martinet will become a Mario ambassador and retire from recording character voices for games. He took over the role of Mario in 1996 in Super Mario 64 and has since provided the character’s voice in many games, including main releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Super Mario Galaxy, as well as spinoffs.

Writer. Inspired in general by beautiful art, great literature, stunning architecture, old maps, foreign melodies and nice company.
