According to sources contacted by CNBC, the United States Federal Trade Commission (FTC) will attempt to block Microsoft’s purchase of gaming giant Activision Blizzard.
The reason behind FTC’s planned disapproval of the acquisition is said to be its concern that it could hinder competition in the gaming market and risk making Microsoft too dominant in this field.
Last year, Microsoft announced its plans to acquire Activision Blizzard for $68.7 billion. Previously, the UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) stated that they would block the deal, while the European Union’s competition authority approved the acquisition under certain conditions.
