Desktop generals who haven’t tried Age of Empires 3: Definitive Edition, a remaster of the original, can now test the game without spending a penny. It’s not just a demo or a time-limited trial; it offers a more substantial experience.
The free version is downloadable via Steam, and it includes:
- Three rotating civilizations (allowing players to choose from three at a time) for skirmish and multiplayer modes.
- Eight maps to host matches on.
- The first act of the campaign “Blood, Ice, and Steel.”
- Art of War challenges.
Players can also experience one of the game’s historical battles (Algiers) and access a compendium that describes all civilizations, buildings, and units.
