Last week, we learned that Larian Studios has brought forward the PC release of Baldur’s Gate 3 by almost a month, most likely to avoid launching alongside Starfield. However, the question remains whether players will have enough time to complete Larian’s epic adventure before the release of Starfield, as according to CEO Swen Vincke, their fantasy role-playing game offers a significant amount of gameplay.

In an interview with IGN, he mentioned the following about the game’s playtime:

Between 75 and 100 hours, that’s what we’re seeing,” Vincke said. “That’s not doing everything, that is just going to be a playthrough. There will be people who will be way over that, the ones who want to do everything. They will probably hit 200 hours, I think. On average we’re seeing people who are going through take about 75 to 100 hours.

The game also includes 174 hours of “cinematic dialogue” (twice as long as all seasons of Game of Thrones combined), which gives an indication of the extensive choices and branching paths the game offers. Vincke also emphasizes that the game has major milestones marking the transition from one chapter to another, providing natural points to take a break from the game if players feel like playing something else for a while and then returning.

Even after the end credits roll, there may be a reason to start over, thanks to the numerous classes, subclasses, races, spells, and other elements available for experimentation, not to mention multiplayer.

Baldur’s Gate 3 will be released on August 3rd for PC and September 6th for PlayStation 5, while Xbox Series X/S will have to wait and may involve some compromises.
