Earlier this month, ASUS unveiled the ROG Ally handheld gaming device, and now some media outlets have had a chance to test it out. In the video above, you can see what the US tech website Engadget has to say about ASUS’ upcoming gaming machine.
Powerful performance with Ryzen Z1 chip
The ROG Ally will run on AMD’s new Ryzen Z1 chip, a powerful chip that AMD has specifically developed for handheld gaming devices. Furthermore, the device has a 7-inch screen that runs at 1080p resolution with a 120Hz refresh rate. This can be compared to the competitor Steam Deck, which has an equally sized screen but runs at a resolution of 800p with a refresh rate of 60Hz.
Advantages of Windows 11
Another advantage of the ROG Ally compared to the Steam Deck is that ASUS’ upcoming gaming machine runs on Windows 11, making it easier to run more games than the Steam Deck has the ability to do.
Unknown battery life and price
Something that is not yet known about the ROG Ally is how long the battery life will be or what it will cost. Both of these factors will likely be interesting to know before deciding to purchase a ROG Ally. On May 11th, ASUS will hold a presentation of the ROG Ally. Then we will probably learn a little more about battery life, prices, and release dates.
