There were a lot of announcements at the Star Wars Celebration in London over the weekend, including the reveal that there will be three new Star Wars movies.
One of the upcoming movies will feature Daisy Ridley reprising her role as Rey, which she played in the last three Star Wars movies of the original Skywalker Saga series. The new movie with Rey will take place 15 years after the events of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. The film will be directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, who has previously directed Ms. Marvel.
Another of the movies will focus on the origins of the Jedi Knights and their power. It will take place 25,000 years before anything else we have seen in the Star Wars universe. The film will be directed by James Mangold, who has previously directed Logan and Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.
The third new Star Wars movie will be directed by Dave Filoni, who has previously been involved in the productions of the animated film Star Wars: The Clone Wars, as well as the TV series The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka, and Skeleton Crew. Filoni’s film is said to tie together what he has previously been involved in around the Star Wars universe.
Disney did not give a release date for the new Star Wars movies that were announced over the weekend. However, they have previously stated that they have new Star Wars movies in the works that are intended to be released between 2025-2027.
