On Sunday, Nintendo’s and Illumination’s movie The Super Mario Bros. Movie, passed the one billion dollar mark in box office gross.

As of Sunday, the movie had grossed 490 million dollars in the United States and 532 million dollars in the rest of the world, according to Variety. It is the fifth movie after the pandemic to gross over one billion dollars globally. The other movies that have achieved this feat so far are Spider-Man: No Way Home, Top Gun: Maverick, Jurassic World Dominion, and Avatar: The Way of Water.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie also becomes the eleventh animated movie ever to gross over 1 billion dollars. The list is topped by the 2019 remake of The Lion King, which grossed over 1.6 billion dollars. You can find all the animated movies that grossed over 1 billion dollars in the table below.
