The latest TV series set in the crime-ridden metropolis of Gotham City didn’t have a long lifespan. TV network The CW has decided to pull the plug on the heroes of “Gotham Knights” after just one season consisting of 13 episodes.

The series takes place in a world where Bruce Wayne, aka Batman, has been murdered. His adopted son Turner (a character created specifically for the series) forms an alliance with some of the villains’ children in an attempt to save their city.

“Gotham Knights” debuted to extremely weak reviews, with only 23% positive ratings on Rotten Tomatoes. The audience response was slightly better at 46%, and on IMDb, it received a less-than-impressive average rating of 4.8 out of 10. Viewers’ interest was also not at its peak, as the series attracted just over 700,000 viewers per episode in the United States, according to TV Line.
