In less than two weeks in theaters, Sony and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse has surpassed its predecessor, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
Over the weekend, the film has earned $226 million in the US and $390 million globally. The previous film made $190 million in the US and $384 million globally during its entire theatrical run.
Long before “Across the Spider-Verse” even started showing in theaters, Sony announced that a third film, Beyond the Spider-Verse, is in the works and set to be released in 2024.
