The man behind the legendary anime Cowboy Bebop, Shinichiro Watanabe, will soon release a new anime series called Lazarus.

The series is being created in collaboration with John Wick director Chad Stahelski and jazz legend Kamasi Washington. Lazarus is set in the year 2052, after the world has received a miraculous drug that cures all diseases forever.

However, three years after the drug was introduced, its creator reveals that it was secretly a slow-acting poison that will kill everyone who took it. A group of special agents joins forces to form the Lazarus team, with the mission to find the doctor and stop his plan in time to save the world.

Shinichiro will be the creator and director of the series, while Chad will design the series’ action sequences. Additionally, everything will be complemented with Kamasi’s jazz music, which sounds fantastic. MAPPA will handle the animation, and unfortunately, the airing date of the series is currently unclear.
