Film studio Universal is expanding its Fast & Furious universe, and another spinoff from the franchise is in the works.

This time, it revolves around a spinoff featuring Dwayne Johnson’s character, Luke Hobbs, in the lead role. Dwayne Johnson has already appeared in the spinoff Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw, where he starred alongside Jason Statham.

The upcoming Hobbs film is intended to serve as a bridge between the events of Fast X, which recently premiered, and Fast X Part II, scheduled for release in 2025. Dwayne Johnson himself announced the news about the upcoming Hobbs film on Twitter, stating:

The next Fast & Furious film you’ll see the legendary lawman in will be the HOBBS movie that will serve as a fresh, new chapter & set up for FASTX: Part II
Last summer Vin and I put all the past behind us. We’ll lead with brotherhood and resolve – and always take care of the franchise, characters & FANS that we love.

The exact premiere date for the as-yet-untitled film featuring Dwayne Johnson/Luke Hobbs remains unclear.
