One of his grandchildren announced yesterday that Al Jaffee, the legendary comic book creator, passed away on Monday at a hospital in New York.
Jaffee began his career as a comic book artist back in 1942 and is best known for his work with the American Mad Magazine, a magazine he worked for 65 years until he retired at the age of 99. Jaffee was responsible for Mad Magazine’s classic fold-in technique, which made different things appear depending on how you folded the magazine’s cover.
