Microsoft launched the foldable Android device, Surface Duo, at the end of 2019, and it started selling in September the following year. Despite this relatively short time since its release, Microsoft now announces that the device will not receive any more updates.

Microsoft initially promised three years of support, but despite that, the Duo will remain on Android 12L. It was originally launched with Android 10. Technically, Microsoft has kept its promise, but one could argue that the policy could be extended for a few more weeks so that users could receive Android 13, which hasn’t been officially released yet – or perhaps primarily to continue providing security updates, which are also ending now.
