Today, Apple is rolling out this year’s major macOS update in the form of macOS Sonoma. The biggest news in Sonoma is the introduction of widgets to macOS.
Users will be able to place interactive widgets on their desktops. There is also the ability to share widgets from an iPhone to a Mac running Sonoma if they are on the same Wi-Fi network.
Sonoma also includes a new ‘gaming mode‘ that can be used for all games running on macOS. The gaming mode, among other things, reduces audio latency when using AirPods for audio output and improves Bluetooth connectivity when using external game controllers designed for Xbox or PlayStation.
There are also some new screensavers that can also be used as wallpapers.
macOS Sonoma is compatible with the following Mac models:
- MacBook Pro: 2018 and later
- MacBook Air: 2018 and later
- Mac mini: 2018 and later
- iMac: 2019 and later
- iMac Pro: 2017
