Apple is the latest company to prohibit its employees from using tools like OpenAI’s ChatGPT at work due to concerns that information shared with the chatbot may leak.
The company has also warned employees against using GitHub’s AI programming assistant, Copilot. Prominent Apple reporter Mark Gurman tweeted that this is not news as the company has added these types of services to its list of software not recommended for use “for months.” Although chat history can be turned off for ChatGPT, OpenAI retains data for 30 days to identify any misuse of the service. Other companies that have banned the use of ChatGPT include JP Morgan, Verizon, and Amazon.
