According to a report from Bloomberg, Apple is expected to soon integrate a new proprietary search engine into the App Store and other apps. The former Google executive John Giannandrea’s search team is said to be working on internally integrating the search engine, codenamed “Pegasus,” more deeply into iOS and macOS, and they may even utilize generative AI tools to further enhance it.

Last year, Apple also introduced Business Connect, a tool designed to improve their database of business information. However, it’s worth taking these rumors with a grain of salt as Apple’s services chief, Eddy Cue, has previously stated that they do not need their own search engine and that they turned down an offer to purchase Bing three years ago.
