A journalist suspects that he has been banned from using the text-to-image service Midjourney after he used the service to generate a dozen images of former US President Donald Trump being arrested by police.
Eliot Higgins, who founded the investigative news service Bellingcat, recently posted a series of images depicting what it might look like when Donald Trump is potentially arrested by American police. Higgins also generated several images showing what Donald Trump might look like in a traditional American prison jumpsuit. After Higgins posted the images on Twitter, he says he was banned from using Midjourney to generate images. Speaking to BuzzFeed, Higgins says of the images he generated:
They kind of formed a narrative and I thought it was really amusing. I put it out there. I didn’t intend to do any clever criticism or anything like that. But then it kind of took on a life of its own.
However, Higgins doesn’t seem particularly upset about being unable to generate images using Midjourney anymore, saying:
I suspect it was pushing my luck when I did the thread, let alone when it went viral.
Below are examples of some of the images that Higgins generated of Trump’s arrest and subsequent time in jail. You can find all of the images that Higgins generated in a thread on Twitter, which can be found below.
