If you don’t already know, Shopify is a platform that you can use to build a store both online and offline.
It allows you to sell both online with your own website and in person with Shopify POS. Shopify has features for everybody from beginners to e-commerce experts. However, if you’re a larger business turning significant revenue, the need for a more customizable experience may arise. Enter Shopify Plus.
At its core, Shopify Plus offers the same dashboard and features as Shopify, but with access to new features, integrations, your store’s underlying code, dedicated support options, and more.
Shopify is for people who run small to medium businesses, whereas Shopify Plus is for corporate-level businesses. Think Coca Cola, Nike, Lion Breweries etc
In this article, we will be running through a few key differences between Shopify and Shopify Plus. Find out more about shopify development to take your business to the next level.
1.Shopify Plus pricing is higher and varies based on sales.
Ok so this isn’t a new feature, but it is an important difference to note between Shopify vs Shopify Plus.
The basic Shopify service has a fixed rate pricing structure. Shopify Plus, on the other hand, requires you to contact their sales department for pricing. Shopify Plus prices are about $2,000 per month or 0.25% of sales volume per month (capped at $40,000), whichever is higher.
2. Unlimited staff accounts on Shopify Plus
Shopify Plus allows an unlimited amount of staff accounts, as opposed to Shopify’s limited staff accounts. Which starts at 2 on the Basic Shopify package and maxes out at 15 on the Advanced Shopify package.
If you have volumes of staff all accessing Shopify, unlimited user accounts can significantly boost productivity.
3. Dedicated support
Shopify offers support to its users not only by email but also over the phone and live chat. If things get difficult, you can hire Shopify Experts.
Shopify Plus on the other hand offers completely customised and dedicated support for your store. As a Shopify Plus user, you are assigned a Launch Engineer to your website to serve as ‘training wheels’ and supervise you throughout the entire store setup process.
It does not matter if it’s third-party integrations or finding partners to work on projects specifically for your need, your Launch Engineer will be there to help.
4. Wholesale Channel
When using Shopify plus and selling high volumes of goods there are going to be customers who want to place wholesale orders. Shopify Plus has a wholesale channel that assists in creating a completely separate and secure storefront based on your primary online store.
This allows users to offer the same products at exclusive wholesale prices to bulk buyers.
Shopify Plus goes as far as to offer tailor-made price lists or promo codes.
Shopify Plus users can use existing product data and integrations, send invoices, track orders and manage both businesses to business and business to consumer businesses all from one place.
5. More control over the checkout
When operating a shopfront it is pretty normal to want to pay special attention to big-spender customers and monitor what they’re doing on your checkout page.
Shopify Plus allows users to customise the checkout experience based on things like the value of the shopping cart and contents etc.
Furthermore, users get access to Shopify Scripts which gives them more control with customised payment options, shipping methods and customer fields.
That is not the case with the standard Shopify packages, you’ll need special apps to customise the checkout experience on standard Shopify.
6. Exclusive apps
Shopify Plus users receive exclusive access to some Shopify apps from their app store that isn’t available to standard Shopify users:
- Shopify Flow is an eCommerce automation platform that helps automate a lot of customer-focused tasks and office protocols within the store and across your apps.
- Launchpad is handy when it comes to automating sales campaigns, flash sales, and product launches amongst other things.
- The transporter app is used to import product, customer and order records into your Shopify store making it easy to send records across stores.
- Bulk Account Inviter is a great app to invite your customers that you have imported from a separate database to open their accounts for your online business. This app is particularly useful once you have imported customer accounts from another platform or another store.
I hope this has helped clear up any confusion you may have had about Shopify and Shopify Plus and you can make a more informed decision in setting up your eCommerce shopfront.
