Samsung has taken over the first place in terms of the number of smartphones sold during the first quarter of 2023 with a narrow lead of only one percent over Apple, according to a new report from Counterpoint. Samsung sold a total of 60.6 million units, which was slightly more than Apple’s 58 million.
However, Apple still leads significantly in terms of revenue, where it is 72 and 31 percent larger than Samsung.
Overall, the smartphone market decreased by 14 percent compared to the previous year and 7 percent compared to the previous quarter, with a total of 280.2 million units sold during Q1 2023. Counterpoint believes that the market will continue to decline over the coming quarters due to several factors such as higher inflation and decreased consumer purchasing power.
