As usual, when Google doesn’t officially unveil its phones months before launch, details tend to leak online before the company’s official announcement.
It seems that the Pixel 8 Pro is no exception, as it is now showcased in a leaked video from Google. In terms of design, there haven’t been significant changes compared to the Pixel 7 Pro, except that the three cameras on the back are hidden under a larger piece of glass. However, the more interesting change is located on the side, next to these cameras and below the LED flash – a new infrared thermometer.
In the leaked video, we see instructions on how users can hold up the phone to their forehead to easily take their temperature. Whether this will be a practical feature or a gimmick that will fade away in a year, only time will tell. It is unclear if the regular Pixel 8 will have a similar function.
