Earlier this year, we learned that Nothing’s next phone would feature a chip from Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 series, but the exact chip was unknown.
Now we know for certain that it will be the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, which was released in the middle of last year. In a Twitter thread, the company’s CEO, Carl Pei, writes that they have chosen to use the slightly older chip to deliver significant performance improvements compared to Nothing’s Phone (1), which ran on Snapdragon 778G+, while keeping costs from skyrocketing too much. Nothing’s Phone (2) is set to be launched this summer.
