CBSE Class 10 Exams: Top Tips To Score Above 90% Marks

Class 10 boards exams are considered to be very crucial in one’s life. To get the stream of your choice in class 11, you need a good score in class 10. Hence, it is very important to have the right guidance to reach your goal and achieve a good score. Here are a few suggestions which can help you ace the 10 class board examination.

1. Every subject holds its value: You need to focus on every subject to score above 90%. Make sure you give attention to Social Sciences and Hindi as most of the students do not focus on these subjects and end up scoring less which ultimately affects their overall percentage. Make sure you give half an hour to each of these subjects.
2. Revision is the key: Try to revise subjects regularly. Make daily, weekly and monthly revision plans so that you remember things for a longer time. Maintain your classroom and revision notebook separately, so that you can keep track of how much syllabus is covered in school and how much you have revised.
3. Target NCERT: The concepts in the NCERT textbook are basic, so you should kickstart your preparation with NCERT only. Read the theoretical concepts and mark the important points. Focus on solved examples and solve all the questions from the exercises yourself. Revise your NCERT textbooks at least three to four times before attempting the board examination.
4. Solving previous year questions: After you have completed your NCERT textbooks as recommended above, you can solve the previous year question papers of all the subjects. Solving the previous year’s paper will give you an idea of how questions will be asked in your examination and for better time management.
5. Make short notes: During the exam, you have a short period to cover a lot of syllabi so making notes is a smart move to quickly cover your syllabus. For example, when you are studying maths, note down all the important formulas in a separate notebook. This will help you during your exam days.
   1. For Biology: While studying biology, draw all the important well-labelled diagrams in a notebook.
   2. For Physics: Write important formulas in a notebook.
   3. For Chemistry: Do not forget to write the important chemical reactions in a separate notebook.

   5. For Social science: Write all the definitions, important dates, and locations and map places separately.
   6. For Hindi: Prefer using NCERT textbooks only. Write the meaning of difficult words and statements in the book itself.

Tips to follow before and during exams:

1. You should keep calm and try not to panic before as well as during the examination.
2. Use your fifteen-minute reading time wisely and judiciously.
3. Maintain optimum speed. While attempting the question paper, make sure you maintain the required speed so that at the end of the exam you do not fall short of time and can revise after you have finished writing your paper.
4. Do not spend much time on one question. If you are stuck somewhere, move on to the next question and come back later.
5. Prepare all the requirements beforehand. Admit card, pens (keep some extra pens), pencil, sharpener, eraser, and all geometry items in a transparent pouch. Also, keep a transparent water bottle to keep yourself hydrated during the examination.
6. Try not to revise at the very last moment before the examination.
7. Reach the examination centre at least 15 min earlier.
8. Listen to the examiner’s instructions on filling the information page to avoid any error.
9. Also, avoid standing in crowded areas and keep your mind placid.
10. Do not write anything on the question paper, you can only tick mark the questions.
11. Cross-check your question numbers with your answers. Also, check whether the multiple-choice answers match the question. Sometimes, you may have written the right answer but the question number or the option marked is wrong. Try to avoid these types of silly mistakes.
