Earlier this year, Microsoft announced that their PC Game Pass service would be coming to Nvidia’s cloud gaming service, GeForce Now.

Tomorrow, on August 24th, it’s time for the premiere of this integration, which will eventually provide GeForce Now users access to all Xbox games offered through PC Game Pass.

Microsoft’s decision to open up PC Game Pass to a competing cloud service is seen as another concession made by Microsoft to gain approval for their acquisition of Activision Blizzard from competition authorities worldwide. The deal between Microsoft and Activision Blizzard risks being blocked if competition authorities believe that Microsoft could become too dominant in the gaming market.

Both the EU and the UK competition authorities have previously pointed out that Microsoft could become excessively dominant in the cloud gaming market if they acquire Activision Blizzard.

Yesterday, it was also confirmed that Ubisoft will acquire the rights to license out Activision Blizzard’s cloud games if Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard is approved. This is also seen as something Microsoft feels compelled to do in order to hopefully gain approval as the owner of Activision Blizzard.
