Are you an avid golfer with money to spare? Then the new golf trunk from Louis Vuitton is just for you.
Louis Vuitton, perhaps the world’s most famous and oldest luxury brand, is now launching a ‘Malle Golf’. That is, a deluxe golf bag, or rather a golf trunk, writes Robb Report.
The history of the brand began almost two hundred years ago, when the founder who gave his name to the company was born in a small village in eastern France in 1821. At the age of 16, he traveled to Paris and got a job as an apprentice with the packer and box maker Monsieur Maréchal.
Since all transportation in the city was done by horse-drawn carriages, boats, and trains, it was important to pack fragile items properly. Wealthy people hired personal packers who made sure their luggage was packed correctly and arrived without damage.
Louis Vuitton made suitcases for the richest
The young Louis was talented and soon made a name for himself among the more affluent circles of Paris. He stayed with Maréchal for 17 years before opening his own workshop, and the Louis Vuitton brand was founded in 1854.
A decisive factor that made Louis Vuitton suitcases and travel bags unique was that they started making travel bags with a flat top early on. At this time, rounded tops were most common, which made travel bags and suitcases (‘trunks’) from Louis Vuitton easier to stack on top of each other, thus making packing take up less space and become more stable.
Based on history
The new Malle Golf is part of Louis Vuitton’s ‘Art and Living Collection’ and is based on the studio’s historic trunks. It is 1.52 meters high and has a variety of drawers and compartments for various golf equipment, and can hold 14 golf clubs and 18 golf balls.
The icing on the cake is, of course, the putting green that easily rolls out from the bottom box on the left side of the trunk. So, it’s perfect for improving your technique wherever you are.
In addition, a range of golf accessories can be purchased separately, naturally in the brand’s well-known monogram.
Takes up to six months to complete
For those who wish, it is perfectly possible to put their own stamp on Malle Golf through the My Creation service, Louis Vuitton’s special order department. About 3-350 special orders are produced each year, and each one is handcrafted using the same techniques that paved the way for the brand from the start. Completing Malle Golf takes between four and six months, but it should last for a century or even longer.
Are you ready for a swing in the absolute luxury class? A Malle Golf can be yours for around $129,000.
